The mysterious item that reportedly washed ashore on Australia’s west coast likely originated in space, according to space organizations in Europe and Australia on Tuesday.
The 155 miles north of Perth, on the beach at Green Head, was where the copper-colored cylinder washed up.
The Australian Space Agency, amid a flurry of online rumors, stated that “the object could be from a foreign space launch vehicle,” and the Western Australia Police Force backed up the Space Agency’s assertions.
Both organizations have issued warnings to people not to interact with the device, and the police have vowed to keep watch over it until it is removed.
