On Friday, actress Julianna Margulies issued an apology in response to criticism she received regarding her contentious remarks concerning the position of the African American community on Israel.
By way of a Deadline apology, Margulies expressed her profound regret at having offended the Black and LGBTQIA+ communities.
“I want to be 100% clear: Racism, homophobia, sexism, or any prejudice against anyone’s personal beliefs or identity are abhorrent to me, full stop. Throughout my career I have worked tirelessly to combat hate of all kind, end antisemitism, speak out against terrorist groups like Hamas, and forge a united front against discrimination. I did not intend for my words to sow further division, for which I am sincerely apologetic.”
She originally made the allegedly offensive remarks on the November 21 episode of the podcast “The Back Room With Andy Ostroy.”

Throughout the discourse, which encompassed topics such as the Holocaust and the Gaza Strip conflict, Margulies placed significant emphasis on the historical bond that existed between the Jewish and Black communities.
She made mention of the Civil Rights Movement, emphasizing the active participation and even sacrifice of Jewish allies in service of this cause.
“Because the fact that the entire Black community isn’t standing with us, to me, says either they just don’t know, or they’ve been brainwashed to hate Jews. But when you’ve been marginalized so much as a community, the way I feel we have, isn’t that when you step up?” she said in the podcast.
