The legendary kicker Robbie Gould, who spent 18 seasons in the NFL, has now announced his retirement from both the league and the sport of football, according to a Players’ Tribune article that Gould authored.
Gould, who graduated from Penn State, entered the NFL in 2005 as an undrafted free agent and spent the subsequent eleven seasons with the franchise.
During that time period, he attempted 324 field goals and converted 85.4% of them, in addition to 99% of his PAT attempts.
Gould was designated a Pro Bowler and earned first-team All-Pro honors in his rookie season of the league (2006). Chicago reached the Super Bowl that same season but was defeated by the Colts.
Gould continued his career with the Giants and 49ers following his time with the Bears.
Certainly one of the most dependable kickers in NFL history, if not the greatest.
