James Darren, who was renowned for his roles in “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and “T.J. Hooker,” passed away on Monday at the age of 88.
According to TMZ, Jim Moret, Darren’s son, verified that the famed actor passed away peacefully in his sleep at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
According to Moret, his father was currently receiving treatment at the cardiac unit for heart-related complications.
He had undergone an aortic valve replacement in the past; however, the doctors determined that he was too frail to endure the procedure, and he was subsequently discharged. He ultimately returned to the hospital, where he tragically passed away.
At this time, the official cause of death of Darren has not been determined.

The renowned actor was a recurring character in “T.J. Hooker,” playing the role of police officer Jim Corrigan. He appeared in an impressive 66 episodes over the course of four seasons.
He also had a recurring role on “Deep Space Nine” in the late 1990s, where he portrayed singer Vic Fontaine.
