State wildlife officials reportedly verified that a Virginia hunter passed away on Friday after a bear, which had been shot by his hunting partner, fell from a tree and struck him.
Lester C. Harvey, a 58-year-old father from Phoenix, was fatally injured when his hunting companion shot a bear that had climbed into a tree.
Days later, Harvey succumbed to his injuries after the bear plunged directly onto him.
The bear was pursued by the hunting party until it managed to ascend a tree in order to evade them.
