According to a Feb. 13 release from the Washington Nationals, Ted Lerner, a millionaire real estate mogul who acquired the team in 2006, has reportedly died.
He was 97 years old at the time.
Lerner died of pneumonia complications at his Chevy Chase, Maryland, home on Feb. 12, according to a Nationals official.

Lerner and his consortium paid $450 million buy the Washington, D.C., franchise from MLB in 2006, after the club, known as the Expos at the time, relocated from Montreal to our nation’s capital to become the Nationals.
He was the team’s managing principal owner until his son Mark took over in 2018.
