Prosecutors reportedly dismissed the weapons enhancement charge against the actorAlec Baldwin who will no longer face years in jail for the murder of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Baldwin, 64, would have faced a mandatory five-year prison sentence if convicted of involuntary manslaughter and weapons enhancement charges.
He is still charged with involuntary manslaughter for the shooting, which carries a reduced penalty of 18 months if convicted.
Late Friday, the updated complaint was reportedly filed.
The charge was also withdrawn against Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, a former Rust armorer who faces the same involuntary manslaughter allegation as Baldwin.
In connection with Halyna’s death on Jan. 31, Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed were previously charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter.
Halyna’s parents and sister have also filed a legal complaint against the actor.
Rust will officially start production in the spring, more than a year after Hutchins was killed on-set in October 2021.
