After being discovered wandering the streets of Los Angeles while nude early on Sunday morning, Amanda Bynes was reportedly taken into mental custody and placed on hold.
An eyewitness confirmed to TMZ on Monday that the former star of “The Amanda Show,” who suffers from bipolar disorder, waved down a car while she was naked and explained to the driver that she was emerging from a psychotic episode.
According to the site, Bynes, who is 36 years old at the time, then phoned 911 on herself and was brought to a neighboring police station, where a mental health specialist ruled that she needed to be placed on a 5150 hold.
According to reports, she continues to receive treatment at a facility.
i find it really disrespectful that the headlines say Amanda Bynes was "found" naked and alone and "placed" on a psychiatric hold – removing her agency. she was able to recognize that she was in psychosis, ask someone for help, and call 911 herself. that's fucking impressive https://t.co/W8RC1ZKE5e

The duration of a 5150 hold is normally 72 hours, however this time frame can be adjusted to meet the requirements of the patient.
Bynes was best known for her role on Nickelodeon’s ‘The Amanda Show.’
