A spokesman for Jeremy Renner reportedly stated Monday that the actor sustained significant chest trauma and orthopedic injuries in a snow plow accident in Reno, Nevada, on Sunday, and that he is in critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery.
Renner’s spokeswoman confirmed in a statement that the 51-year-old Avengers star is in the intensive care unit after undergoing surgery on Monday.
The cause of the accident has not been disclosed by authorities or Renner’s representative. Renner had to be evacuated by helicopter to a hospital for treatment, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office late Sunday.
Renner was hurt on Mt. Rose Highway, which connects Lake Tahoe, which spans the Nevada-California border, and south Reno.
Renner was the only person involved in the collision on Sunday, and the sheriff’s office said in a news release that it is looking into it.
