CNN has decided to cancel the weekly primetime show “King Charles,” featuring Charles Barkley and Gayle King, due to its inability to garner a substantial viewership during its six-month tenure.
The duo’s ratings had a significant decrease following a mediocre debut in November 2023.
According to Nielsen data, the show debuted with a viewership of 500,000 and 139,000 in the important 25-54 age group.
The series’ debut on a weekday during prime-time was the network’s poorest in almost ten years.
The show was initially declared as a limited series in November and had always been planned to conclude at some point during the spring season.

The viewership numbers continued to decline, as the January program failed to attract even 100,000 people in the crucial demographic.
The show’s 14 episodes had an average viewership of 459,000 and a key demographic viewership of 106,000.
Barkley’s ratings suffered greatly in comparison to its time slot competitors, particularly Fox News’ “Gutfeld!” which garnered more than four times the number of viewers.
The duo concluded their last show on Wednesday, with King expressing the possibility of a future reunion.
