Chet Hanks, the son of Tom Hanks, defended his house on Monday early by allegedly punching out a would-be thief with his bare fists.
According to law enforcement authorities familiar with the case, at around three in the morning, a male suspect made an attempt to break into Hanks’ Los Angeles County residence.
When the suspect tried to enter Hanks’ house, Hanks confronted him face-to-face and allegedly hit him to stop the robbery attempt.
Hanks had already engaged in personal contact with the male suspect when police arrived on the scene, and the suspected robber’s physical interaction had become much more intense.
The man allegedly resisted arrest and continued to fight the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies despite their attempts to control him.
At last, the suspect was handcuffed by the police.
At some point during the violent exchange, the male suspect, although being handcuffed, managed to tumble backwards onto one of the deputies, breaking one of the officer’s legs in the process.
