According to his spokesperson, online influencer Andrew Tate was reportedly detained in Romania and served with an arrest warrant from British authorities on Tuesday.
Tate, 37, and his brother Tristan Tate were arrested Monday evening on accusations of sexual misconduct in a U.K. case from 2012-2015, according to spokesperson Mateea Petrescu.
According to her, the Bucharest Court of Appeal is expected to make a significant decision on Tuesday regarding the execution of warrants issued by the Westminster Magistrates Court in the U.K.
Tate faces charges in a separate case in Romania involving rape, human trafficking, and leading a criminal group to exploit women sexually.
In December 2022, he was apprehended close to Bucharest with Tristan and two Romanian women. All four individuals were officially charged by Romanian prosecutors in June of last year, and they have all denied the accusations.
Tate, with 8.7 million followers on the social media platform X, insists that Romanian prosecutors lack evidence against him and are part of a political plot to silence him.
He was previously banned from several well-known social media platforms for expressing misogynistic views and hate speech.
