Denzel Washington, the renowned actor, was baptized and formally ordained as a minister on Saturday at the Kelly Temple in New York City.
Cameras captured the moment that Washington reaffirmed his faith and dedicated his life to serving God before he was immersed in water, as he addressed the congregation.
The video depicted him with his hands uplifted in prayer as he was baptized and received his minister’s license.
In the video, the 69-year-old celebrity was observed donning a white robe that extended to the floor. As he was submerged in the water, he crossed his arms over his chest.
Washington’s head inclined forward, as if overcome by emotion, as he stood surrounded in prayer, as church music played to commemorate the special occasion.
He posed with his baptismal certificate and minister’s license, wearing a plain grey t-shirt and sweatpants.
