Chris Smith, a former NFL standout, has passed away, his agency tweeted. He was only 31 years-old.

Throughout his eight years in the NFL, Smith, a former defensive lineman for the Cleveland Browns, played for a number of clubs, including the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cincinnati Bengals, and Las Vegas Raiders.
In 2014, Smith signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and started his NFL career as a defensive tackle.
In 2019, a few weeks after giving birth to their kid, his girlfriend Petara Cordero perished in a vehicle accident.
Smith’s official cause of death has not yet been released.
Social media was flooded with condolences to the former player.

Smith played for the Jaguars for three seasons before moving on to play for the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals.
