According to recent report, former Detroit Lions cornerback Stanley Wilson Jr. died after collapsing in a mental institution earlier this month.
Wilson Jr., the son of former Bengals running back Stanley Wilson Sr., was 40 years old when he died.
Wilson Jr. was ruled incompetent to stand trial in a vandalism case, according to law enforcement sources, and was transported from county prison to the Metropolitan State Hospital in Los Angeles on February 1. He passed out while being admitted to the hospital.
According to sources close to the case, no foul play is suspected. As part of the postmortem report, toxicology tests have been scheduled.
Wilson Jr. appeared in 32 games during the course of his professional football career. He was with the Lions for three seasons until sustaining an Achilles injury that terminated his career just before the 2008 season.
