McGregor is an Irish professional mixed martial artist and boxer who is a former two-division champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
He is a former featherweight and lightweight champion and is the first fighter in UFC history to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously.
McGregor began his MMA career in 2008 and quickly made a name for himself in the European circuit.
He signed with the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship in 2011 and went on to become the featherweight and lightweight champion before signing with the UFC in 2013.
McGregor made his UFC debut in April 2013 and quickly made an impact, winning his first four fights in the organization.
He then challenged for the featherweight title in December 2015 and defeated José Aldo to become the featherweight champion.
In 2016, McGregor took on Nate Diaz in a welterweight bout, which he lost, but then won in the rematch at the same weight class. This made him the first fighter in UFC history to win a championship belt in two weight classes simultaneously.
In 2017, he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a highly publicized and lucrative boxing match, which he lost.
He returned to the octagon in 2018 and lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in a lightweight title fight.
Throughout his career, McGregor has been known for his brash personality, trash-talking, and flashy fighting style. He has also been a major draw for the UFC, headlining some of the organization’s biggest and most successful pay-per-view events.
