Wendy Williams, a well-known media personality, has recently been diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, according to a statement released by her team.
Williams, known for her time on “The Wendy Williams Show” from 2008-2021, has been away from public view in recent years due to health issues.
Concerns arose about her well-being when observers noticed her difficulty in processing information and comprehending financial transactions, according to her team.
She began experiencing difficulty communicating and displayed erratic behavior on occasion.
When a head injury or stroke occurs, aphasia can affect a person’s communication abilities. The illness may also progress slowly due to other degenerative conditions affecting the brain.
Frontotemporal dementia affects behavior and cognitive functions, often beginning with alterations in personality such as increased aggression and sexual behavior, before advancing to memory decline.
The condition stems from the degeneration of an individual’s frontal and temporal brain lobes.
Unfortunately, a cure for the disease has not been found.
