Pitcher Drew Smith of the New York Mets was reportedly dismissed from a game on Tuesday night because of what was allegedly a sticky material on his hand.
In the top of the seventh inning, with the Mets trailing the New York Yankees by one run, umpires checked Smith as he made his way to the mound, according to the site.
The reliever quickly found himself encircled by officials as players and Mets manager Buck Showalter also joined the mob.

Smith will now be suspended for a minimum of 10 games. Max Scherzer, a teammate, was suspended earlier in the year for a related offense.
The Mets ultimately fell behind the Yankees 7–6. Smith cannot be replaced by the team until the ban is up.
