The Bengals traveled to Cleveland to face the Browns in their Week 1 game, renewing an old AFC North rivalry.
The entire game was played in the rain, which stymied the passing attacks of both teams.
However, DeShaun Watson and Cleveland didn’t perform as poorly as Joe Burrow and Cincinnati.
Burrow suffered several career lows, completing only 14 of his 31 passes for a pitiful 82 yards while being sacked twice against the Browns.
Burrow had 49 career starts prior to this game, and despite today’s poor performance, he had never completed less than 50% of his passes in a game.
Burrow’s previous career low in passing yards was 148 before Sunday, and he fell 66 yards shy of it against Cleveland.
Things became so dire for the team that they ended up benching Burrows, who recently signed a massive deal worth hundreds of millions with the team for their backup quarterback.
