Erik Compton, a member of the PGA Tour, is reportedly in custody after being charged with both felonies and misdemeanors for allegedly assaulting his wife over the weekend at their Miami-Dade County, Florida, home.
According to police, the incident happened at the couple’s home in Glenvar Heights’ 6800 block of Southwest 70th Avenue at 9:30 PM on Saturday.
According to a Miami-Dade Police Department arrest complaint obtained by WPLG Local 10 (ABC Miami), Compton and his wife were verbally battling about “relationship issues” when the latter pulled out her cell phone and started recording, intensifying the situation.
The 43-year-old professional golfer allegedly grabbed his wife by the shoulders and shoved her against a wall after taking the phone from her and throwing it into the swimming pool.
Additionally, according to the authorities, she sustained minor injuries on her left arm.
Strong-armed robbery, a second-degree felony, and violence, a misdemeanor, were the charges that led to Compton’s arrest.
