On Sunday, a shark attacked a famed surfer and actor known for his role in “Pirates of the Caribbean” in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Tamayo Perry, 49, was attacked by a shark while surfing off the island of Oahu at around 1 p.m. on Sunday, and emergency personnel in Honolulu were unable to save him, according to the BBC. Shayne Enright, a spokeswoman for Honolulu Ocean Safety and The Honolulu Medical Services Office, confirmed Perry’s death in a press statement after paramedics used jet skis to transport him back to land.

Besides his renown as a surfer, Perry was also known for his acting, starring in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and appearing in “Lost,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “Blue Crush” and “Charlie’s Angels 2.”
