Last month, according to a regulatory filing, federal law enforcement officers reportedly issued WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon with a federal grand jury subpoena and carried out a search warrant.
Following recent spinal surgery, McMahon is also taking a medical leave of absence from the sports entertainment organization.
While federal investigations against McMahon are still underway, according to WWE’s statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission, no charges have been filed.
In relation to the probe and related topics, the firm said it has received both voluntary and compliant legal requests for records, including from federal law enforcement and regulatory organizations.
The WWE is reportedly looking into an alleged $3 million payment made by McMahon to a leaving female employee after a consensual liaison, according to a Wall Street Journal article from the previous year.
The inquiry into the alleged misbehavior by WWE was finished last year.
