A class action complaint has now reportedly been launched by three employees of the Bohemian Club against the exclusive retreat for the wealthy, accusing it of pay theft and other labor abuses.
In the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Anthony Gregg, Shawn Granger, and Wallid Saad filed a case against the club, which boasts former presidents Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon among its members.
A jury trial has now been sought by the aggrieved parties.
One of the organization’s most prominent camps, Monastery Camp, was also mentioned in the case.
Executives from Fortune 500 corporations and well-known government figures are among its members.
The “Camp Captain” in charge of each of these campgrounds on the Bohemian Grove site is in charge of the food, beverages, lodging, and money at each camp.
According to the complaint that UPI was able to get, the three valets had each been hired by the club and largely worked for the Monastery Camp until 2022. The employees said valets had to put in more than 15 hours a day, seven days a week.
The employees claim that Bohemian Grove and its co-defendants failed to pay them a minimum wage or overtime in violation of the U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act, the California Labor Code, and a California Industrial Welfare Commission Wage Order.
Additionally, the elite club did not pay workers premium earnings for missed meals or breaks. Additionally, it is claimed that the club failed to keep correct employment records as required by law and that it denied workers their last payments.
