According to a new forensic report, the cause of death for the Brazilian fan who perished during a Taylor Swift concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in November has been determined.
The cause of death for Ana Clara Benevides is heat exhaustion; the report states that the woman suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest due to heat exposure; she had no preexisting conditions or indicators of substance abuse.
According to the source, Benevides, age 23, collapsed during Swift’s second song on November 17 at the concert. Hours after being transported to a nearby hospital, she passed away.
On that particular day, Rio recorded temperatures of approximately 40 degrees Celsius (105 degrees Fahrenheit).
Following allegations that attendees were not granted sufficient access to water while waiting in line to attend the concert and were prohibited from carrying water into the venue, Time For Fun, the organization responsible for organizing Swift’s Brazil stops on her Eras Tour, is currently the subject of an investigation.
