ABC 7 News reports that a series of shootings in Chicago resulted in the deaths of at least five individuals and the injury of numerous others over the weekend.
ABC 7 News reports that at least 26 individuals were wounded in a variety of incidents on Saturday and Sunday, and no one is currently in custody.
According to Illinois research nonprofit Wirepoints, Chicago ranked first in the nation in homicides for the 12th consecutive year in 2023.
ABC 7 reported that a man was fatally shot in his high-rise condominium in the South Loop on Saturday.
On Saturday, Timothy Fulton, 26, was also shot twice in a deserted lot and was later declared deceased at the hospital.
The local outlet reported that a 27-year-old man was shot in the back outside of city Alderman Maria Hadden’s office on Sunday morning. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Additionally, there were numerous drive-by shootings that resulted in the injuries of victims over the weekend.
One of the victims, a 33-year-old male, was shot above the eye while in the passenger seat of a vehicle, resulting in critical injuries.
In a drive-by gunshot on the South Side, three individuals were injured, with two of them in critical condition.
