Jerry Springer, a former news anchor and mayor of Cincinnati and famous host of ‘The Jerry Springer Show’ has reportedly passed away.
He was the host of the contentious but wildly successful talk show that bore his name. He was 79.
Springer reportedly passed away peacefully on Thursday at his suburban Chicago home following a brief illness.
Springer served as Cincinnati’s 56th mayor during the 1970s.
He focused on television after his time in politics. The Jerry Springer Show, which aired from 1991 to 2018 for 28 seasons, was Springer’s most well-known work.
Once his chat show ended, he appeared in the reality TV show Judge Jerry.
Springer had a career as a judge, attorney, and actor in addition to presenting his own shows.
